Aches and pains

I haven't gotten to the gym at all this week because either my back has been hurting, or my foot.  I went and got a massage Monday night for my back and it feels so much better.  And today I went and got acupuncture for my foot (planters fascistic) so hopefully that will be on the mend soon!

Eating has still been going great though!  We bought Steel cut oats from Whole Foods so I made a big batch Sunday night in the crockpot, and then I have heated it up every morning for breakfast.  I don't ever want to go back to regular oatmeal!  Steel Cut oats taste sooo good!  I put peanut butter, coconut milk, walnuts and dried fruit in it!

I had a little more for lunch today then I normally do.  I guess I was "saladed" out.  I had mixed veggies of snap peas and zucchini that was sauteed in olive oil and garlic; then had broccoli/cauliflower mixture; and a couple of steamed potatoes with butter on them.

I had a party tonight so ate veggies with hummus there, and then when I got home I had some cottage cheese.

I haven't lost any more weight (I am at 214 now) but my clothes feel soo much better!!!

Working out

I have not been able to do any cadio for the last 2 weeks because I have planter fascitis.  BUT I've been being faithful about going to the gym and lifting weights - and have been walking on my lunch hour!

I started back on an exercise plan that a former trainer had me on (when I lost all my weight).  It combines upper body and core exercises/weight lifting.  I will do this for a couple of weeks and then switch to the next routine he wrote out for me.

Eating is still going great!!  At work I get salads made with spinach, and then just drizzle a little olive oil on top.  Last night Ray wanted to go out to dinner so we went to Twisted Rooster.  I had a cucumber and mixed green salad with goat cheese and drizzled some balsamic dressing over the top.

I love how my lose my clothes are fitting, and how I'm feeling.  :)

Clothes are fitting!!!

Usually I struggle every morning with what to wear.  I only have about 4 dress pants that fit me good so I have to wear those every week - and just switch it up with shirts and hope people don't notice I'm wearing the same things!

WELL - this morning, I tried on a pair of pants that I haven't worn in over a year and THEY FIT!!!!  Not only did they fit - but they FIT GREAT!  I was so excited.  And a shirt I put on to go with it fit better then it did last time I wore it as well.  I'm thinking this clean eating thing is a good thing :)

For breakfast - again I had my oatmeal with the normal stuff in it.  Didn't have a morning snack because we had a staff meeting and then chapel, so no time.

For lunch - spinach with assorted veggies on it and then olive oil and vinegar for dressing.

Afternoon snack was an apple and then later in the afternoon I had some almonds.

When I got home I changed into some shorts and thought I would try on a pair that I haven't worn since the beginning of LAST summer, AND THEY FIT!!!  I'm loving this feeling! :)

Dinner tonight was amazing.  We had leftover steak from Monday so I threw together a great salad consisting of Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, cabbage, carrots, radishes, yellow peppers, cucumbers and the steak.  Topped it off with an Olive Oil balsamic dressing.  It was sooo good.

Tonight I had one of my chocolate chip cookies I made that I got from a "eating clean" website.  It was yummy!!!

Staying Strong

I managed to get through the weekend without falling off the band wagon of this clean eating!!

AND we finally found Coconut Oil!  They have it at Meijer.  There are a million uses for this stuff, not to mention it tastes great in stir fries, smoothies, and other things you would normally use olive oil for.  There are many sites that give you information on the many uses but here is a good one that I found -

Benefits of Coconut Oil

This morning for breakfast I had oatmeal with Flax seed, walnuts, a little bit of coconut oil, coconut milk and natural peanut butter.

For a morning snack I had greek yogurt with all natural granola in it.

For lunch - Spinach salad with - cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs, sunflower seeds, carrots and olive oil drizzled over the top.  I find that this really fills me up!!  Also had some fresh fruit of strawberries, muskmelon, and pineapple.

My afternoon snack was a string cheese.

Dinner was leftovers of turkey stuffed green peppers and a side of Basmati Rice Medley which we got at Trader Joe's - Ingredients: Indian Basmati Rice, Wild Rice, Dehydrated Carrots, Onions, Celery, Red Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Parsley, Garlic. Lemon peel.  It was delicious!!!

For exercise today I walked 3 miles at lunch - and then went to the gym and lifted weights.

All in all a great day!!!

Starting the journey

My husband came up with a great idea that we need to start eating clean.  SO, on August 24 we started the journey.

In the last week we have had turkey stuffed green peppers, shrimp tacos, Quinoa stuffed green peppers, blacked chicken with quinoa, and Lemon Oregano chicken.  With no snacking (other than nuts, veggies, and fruit), I have lost 8 lbs.

Tonight we are having steak on the grill with potatoes and corn on the cob.  I did not go to the gym today because I was pretty sore still from lifting weights yesterday.
